SW Portland Kitchen Plans

Making the most out of a small footprint.

The goal for this renovation was to maximize the space and functionality in a small kitchen without sacrificing style. We had to shift placements of all of the appliances and the sink to create the a better work flow.

The design for the kitchen is meant to feel both timeless and modern. The timeless comes from the shaker style cabinets and handmade backsplash and the modern comes from the green cabinet color mixed with gold hardware. There are gold and black accents carried throughout the kitchen that pop against the creamy white backsplash and countertops. The natural wood dining table and textured rug bring more layers and textures to the design creating a cozy eat-in kitchen moment. We want this kitchen to stand the test of time both in design and functionality.

The Updated Layout

The layout of the kitchen was a challenge, there was no pantry for food and extra storage and the appliance locations were less than ideal. The first step in updating this kitchen was figuring out the new locations for the appliances. To be able to maximize storage, we swapped the placement of the range and the fridge. This freed up the space to be able to crate a full floor to ceiling pantry surrounding the the fridge. Moving the range allows for a focal point in the kitchen that you can see when you enter the house. The sink was also shifted to be centered under a window, freeing up counter space for food prep.
